Tajin Mild Hot Sauce – Mexican chili sauce with lime, 455ml

This liquid Tajin sauce brings the typical combination of chili, lime, and salt into a pourable form. Unlike the familiar Tajin powder, the sauce can be drizzled directly over food or mixed into drinks. The spiciness remains mild, with the lime flavor taking center stage.

Use in the kitchen

The sauce works where the powder would be too dry. Poured over freshly cut fruit – mango, pineapple, watermelon – it adheres better than a sprinkle seasoning. On raw vegetables like cucumbers, jicama, or carrots, it provides both moisture and flavor.

In hot dishes, the sauce can be cooked along with the main dish or added later. A splash at the end adds acidity and freshness to soups and stews. In tacos or quesadillas, it partially replaces sour cream and adds flavor.

Drinks and cocktails

For Micheladas – the Mexican beer drink with lime juice and spices – the sauce is more convenient than the powder. Just add one or two teaspoons to a glass, fill with beer, and you're done. It also works well in tomato juice or Bloody Marys.

Those who make their own lemonade or iced tea can experiment with the sauce. It adds acidity and a slight spiciness without being too overpowering.

Taste and texture

The sauce tastes of lime and salt, followed by a mild chili heat. It doesn't burn, at most it causes a slight tingling sensation on the tongue. Anyone used to hot sauces will find it very tame.

The consistency is similar to a thin soy sauce – liquid enough to pour, but not watery. It drips from the bottle without spilling and mixes well with other liquids.

Difference to Tajin powder

The powder adheres to dry surfaces and provides a crispy texture. The sauce soaks in or forms a moist layer. For popcorn or chips, the powder remains the better choice. For salads, marinades, or drinks, the sauce is easier to measure.

The two taste similar, but the sauce has a more intense flavor because it is more concentrated. One teaspoon of sauce is roughly equivalent to half a teaspoon of powder.

Storage and shelf life

Once opened, the bottle should be refrigerated. Depending on consumption, the 455ml will last for several weeks to months. The sauce will separate over time, so shake well before use.

Tajin has been producing chili powder and sauces in Mexico since the 1980s. The ingredient list is simple: water, chili peppers, lime juice, salt, preservatives.

Who will benefit from this sauce?

For those already familiar with tagine powder but finding it impractical for drinks or wet dishes, this offers an alternative. The sauce is also suitable for people who enjoy Mexican flavors but don't want extreme spiciness.

It's a staple in Mexican cuisine. Beyond that, it can be used to season salads, grilled vegetables, or homemade salsas. It's not an all-purpose sauce, but it's reliable in its applications.
